Seattle AWA welcomes attendees of the AIA Knowledge by Design and local professionals to join us for a special international, collaborative activity and fine Northwest Cuisine
from the Kitchen of Kaspar's.
Exploring cuisine as a metaphor for design, acclaimed Chef Kaspar will lead us in an inspirational discussion, hands-on cooking demonstration / team participation presentation and service of a seven-course, sit-down lunch for all to enjoy.
Chef Kaspar will share his thoughts and philosophies on cuisine as a creative process and will contemplate the components of process, focusing upon topics such as concept, planning, scope, budget, materials, schedule, team work, presentation, and experience. Topics of conversation will focus upon Chef Kaspar as 'project manager', his style, personality, and philosophy of 'team as family'.
Using local, fresh Northwest ingredients, teams will create a 7-course menu with approximately 2 hours in the kitchen and will receive personal attention from acclaimed Chef Kaspar on the subject of professional cooking methods and techniques as related to the design process. Then, all will gather for lunch where each team will serve the results of their efforts, for all to savor, over a glass of wine (an extra glass is also included) and lunch, with lively discussion about what was learned. Finally, all will receive a packet of recipes for the entire luncheon along with a chic, monogrammed apron.

"It is important for an Architect to study and practice the art of cuisine, for a great meal is not unlike a great building. They are both reflections of process and attitudes."
